NHS can help you manage Nursing Home expenses

Our Solution

Nursing Home Solutions can help you whether you are facing a medical emergency, attempting to avoid probate, or wisely planning for the future, we provide customized solutions to preserve and protect your hard-earned assets.

In fact, we can help if you:

  • Are facing a catastrophic illness, such as dementia, stroke, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.
  • Have a loved one in a nursing facility and are privately paying for care now.
  • Are already on Medi-Cal and facing a potential Medi-Cal Recovery of Assets
Far too many middle class families needlessly spend down all their assets to pay for nursing home care. All your life, you have paid into government programs that exist to help you pay these costs. Most middle class families do not need to spend down their assets and become impoverished to be eligible for long-term care Medi-Cal government benefits.

Our professionals will assess and determine your Medi-Cal eligibility, evaluate which options are right for you, implement the necessary steps to preserve and protect assets, and free up your time to take care of the people you love.

Step 1 - Free Assessment
Before your first office consultation, we perform a telephone assessment to determine if your family will benefit from our services. We gather information about your finances, estate plan,  powers of attorney and marital status. We review issues related to  the patient’s medical condition including type of illness (i.e.  Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Dementia, Stroke, broken hip etc.) to ascertain if Long-Term Nursing Home Care is the correct solution.
Step 2 - Consultation
Once we determine that you can benefit from our services, we meet with you and  formulate a customized plan  necessary to preserve the  family's assets while making certain that your loved one  qualifies immediately  for  Long-Term Nursing Home Care, paid by Medi-Cal.
Step 3 - Implementation of Services
NHS implements the plan, protecting and preserving assets belonging to the person, spouse and other family members. NHS staff members complete the application, act as an intermediary and assist with government agencies, handle all court proceedings and stand by the family throughout the entire application process.

Our Services Include

Case Manager Counseling
Our case managers are experienced Registered Nurses (R.N.'s) and Social Workers that assist with placement needs – from recommending nursing home facilities to assisting the emotionally drained family with proper placement for their loved one. Upon request, our case managers will interact with insurance companies to maximize the benefits and get authorization for the most appropriate level of care.

Traditional Estate and Financial Planning
Along with a plan for long-term nursing home care, traditional estate planning needs such as probate avoidance, minimizing tax consequences and maximizing financial stability of the family are also considered. When we meet with our clients, our solution  ensures that the needs of both long-term care and traditional estate planning are satisfied.

Essential Tools
Regardless of the good health, every person should have vital tools in place so that someone can make financial and healthcare decisions if a person is unable to do so. Advanced Healthcare Directives and a Durable Financial Power of Attorney are minimally necessary. Also, a simple Will should be in place which would provide for the orderly distribution of your assets. These tools will enable you to act when the time comes.

Review of Living Trusts
Are you aware that the majority of Living Trusts do not protect assets from creditors?  In fact, Living Trusts have an obligation to pay all bills and debts of the estate thereby causing  you to potentially lose everything you own when faced with the high costs  of a long-term illness. NHS will review and recommend steps to resolve the Trust dilemma.

Insurance Concerns
While NHS does not sell insurance, many families who contact us have questions regarding their current insurance coverage and possible future needs. We will discuss and  recommend the types of insurance you might require.
